Cool Promo: Goo-Goo Goals and Free Sweets

The Nashville Predators are running some pretty cool promotions to get fans engaged and into the arena in 2012. It seems the folks down in Nashville really love their sweets as the Predators have come up with some pretty creative and unique promotions with tasty giveaways. We’ll take a look at some of these sweet promos…

“Sweet” Promotions

The first promotion is tied into the Predators’ sponsorship agreement with GooGoo Cluster. GooGoo Cluster, for those who don’t know, is a Southern Chocolate Treat that is gooey and, um, clustery. Anyways, the reason this promo is so creative is the way the chocolate gets distributed. Anyone can just giveaway candy at the end of a game, but the Predators put a unique swing on this giveaway. Predators Fans in attendance get to play a game within a game with the prize being this delicious chocolate treat. If the Predators score a goal in the final minute of the second period, all fans in attendance get a GooGoo Cluster. That feat hasn’t happened yet, but it’s become a promotional play that fans really get excited over. In fact, fans even chant for it with “Goo-Goo, Goo-Goo, Goo-Goo” chants during the final minute of the middle period.

The treats don’t end with GooGoo. The Predators also partnered with Wendy’s for a “Score For Four” Promotion. If the Preds score four or more goals in a game, those in attendance can bring their ticket stub to their local Wendy’s for a free Frosty.

Not enough treats? Here’s another. The Predators and Dunkin’ Donuts teamed up to give out doughnuts to ticket holders. There is, of course, a stipulation that makes this giveaway exciting. If Nashville’s opponent puts up a doughnut (i.e. gets shutout), all fans in attendance get a doughnut of their own!

Is It Working?

At about the halfway point of the 2011-12 NHL Season, the promotions seem to be working. Last year, the Predators ranked 21st out of 30 teams in attendance. As of January 11th, 2012, the Predators are averaging 16,621 fans each game, up about 500 from 2010-11. We’re sure that with more sweet promotions like these, more and more tickets will be eaten up.
